1/6/2023 0 Comments Liza minelli interview![]() ![]() Liza’s rendition of “New York, New York” is certainly poignant, but nobody seems to know how to talk about what had happened just yet, so outside of a couple oblique references and Rosie’s FDNY tee, they don’t. It isn’t iconic like Jon Stewart’s Daily Show monologue or Saturday Night Live‘s return, but as a document of early post-9/11 entertainment television, this interview is totally fascinating in its own right. Lastly, and I think this is the point I find most compelling: this episode aired eight days after September 11th.Not only does Liza finds Gest attractive, she finds him so attractive that she has to cross her legs and double-down on her assertion: he’s very attractive. I’m pretty certain the audience has no idea who she’s talking about, but no matter. Of course, we must discuss Liza and Rosie discussing David Gest. It’s totally bizarre to see these two candidly gabbing about Minnelli and Gest’s meeting like some celebrity wet dream version of a Sex and the City brunch (Liza’s a Charlotte, and Rosie’s a Samantha, obviously).Either way, it’s a truly strange aside, and I have this image of Liza’s legs flitting about childlike without the security box, which is rather delightful. Either Liza’s very tiny or those chairs are very big. It’s a throwaway moment, for sure, but that moment where they talk about the box they placed under Liza’s chair so her feet won’t dangle is f*cking weird. Are we sure that’s actually Liza and not somebody’s aunt doing a well honed impression? Does Liza’s hair even grow that long? The answers, it would seem, are yes and apparently. It’s not that it’s bad, but I’m so used to Liza Minnelli sporting some sort of variation of her signature short ‘do that I had to do a double take when she took the stage. It’s something else from top (O’Donnell) to bottom (David Gest), so give it a watch and let’s discuss: Minnelli and the inspiration for Cabaret 2‘s favorite person, Rosie O’Donnell. In particular, I’d like to suggest this interview with an “I” between Ms. Thank God for laughter. It’s my belief that all things are made better by Liza Minnelli, and so today I propose a little MWM: Monday With Minnelli. Minnelli said that the state of Broadway was strong and that she spends much of her time traveling the world and entertaining troops abroad.įinally, Minnelli was asked about her memoir would she eventually write one and what would be in it? She said that if she ever found time to write one, “it would be funny… because there’s so many funny things that happened. “None whatsoever,” replied an oblivious Minnelli. ![]() “No response,” asked an increasingly uncomfortable Kilmeade. She went on to describe the herbs that uniquely flavor that pot roast – in case you were curious, those are “thyme, sage and rosemary.” Like the song.Ĭo-host Gretchen Carlson asked Minnelli to weigh in on a new Broadway play about her mother. ![]() Kilmeade corrected her, saying that earlier she had described her pot roast as so good it would “kill you dead.” Kilmeade said that description may have been slightly cocky, to which Minnelli replied “but I’m right.” The Broadway star was asked what she likes to do, to which she responded that she enjoys cooking and can make an excellent “Yugoslavian pot roast.” When Minnelli was asked if she would ever consider getting married again, she responded “at this age? Come on.” “Sitting next to Gretchen and Eric is intimidating enough, but you come in here and you can point to Carson and Merv Griffin and all these legendary talk show hosts. “Because you’re a legend,” Kilmeade responded. The interview started relatively stiff, and it only became clear why when fill-in host Eric Bolling confronted co-host Brian Kilmeade who he described as having been “nervous all morning” about sitting down with Minnelli. RELATED: Awkward: Karl Rove Calls Fox & Friends Host Alisyn Camerota ‘Gretchen’’ What followed was an extraordinarily awkward exchange that required the hosts to muster all their powers of interview to get through. Broadway actress Liza Minnelli appeared on Fox & Friends on Tuesday to promote a CD of some of her biggest musical hits. ![]()
